My selection tools are taking a lot longer to respond when selecting an object/area. This happened quite suddently, and possibly coincided with the August 2021 Photoshop update. I've dused every strategy that I've found online and in these forums to rectify it, but nothing seems to have worked. It's really dragging me down. I have a MacBook Pro with Big Sur 11.5.2. Both MacBook and Photoshop set to automatically update. Has anyone else had this issue?

Sounds like a memory issue.

Go to Performance tab in Preferences panel. How much RAM is available?

Go to Scratch Disk. How much scratch disk space?

Thanks Nancy,

I have 6040MB of RAM available and 41.94GB available on the scratch disc - how do those numbers sound?

Same problem here.

Upgraded to 22.5 and it now lags with many tools and I am working on the exact same file I was prior to the upgrade.  The Lasso won't close for a few seconds and the wand tool takes the same amount of time to register. I have already tried resetting prefs.

Running M1 Chip MacBook Pro / OSX Big Sur 11.5.2

Photoshop user 25 years +

Upgraded to Photoshop 22.5.0 – since the upgrade – when making a selection (by any means – example: Lasso Tool), there is a not-insignificant amount of lag between me drawing a selection – and the marching ants appearing on screen. Enough of a lag that I think the selection either hasn't worked or has been accidently deselected... but then it appears.

Very frustrating...

You can revert to a previous version from the Creative Cloud app until Adobe fix the issue

When you use the Select or Patch tool, the speed at which the selection changes to a dotted line suddenly slows. I'm using an m1 MacBook now.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop while using the selection tools. This is a known issue & our product team has logged it as a bug. They are currently working on a fix for it.

If you wish, you can roll back to the previous version of Photoshop (22.4.3) using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/2wH0JjE

Please uninstall the latest version of Photoshop first & select the option to Keep Preferences prior to installing the previous version.

Regards,

Nikunj

I just updated to the latest version 22.5.0 on a a Mac Mini M1

Everything was great and now the "Patch Selection" tool is sluggish when a

selection is made.

Meaning: as I make a selection rather than an immediate showing of the "marching ants" is stick for a few seconds as a solid line that can't be moved (when dragging to select a patch sample.)

Anyone else having issues with this?

MacOS Big Sur updated too.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with the Patch Selection tool in Photoshop 22.5. Would you mind checking if you experience the same issue with the Lasso tool or other selection tools as well?

If you do it might be due a known issue in Photoshop 22.5. Please check out: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem/p-lasso-tool-lags-on-photoshop-22-5/m-p/12326685

If you do not experience the same behavior with other selection tools, you can try resetting the patch selection tool using the steps suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-troubleshooting.html#tool

Let us know if that helps!

Regards,

Nikunj

I think it's update's fault - changing psd settings doesn't help

OK, so it was working fine in the previous version?

Resetting prefs generally fixes many issues.

Hi

unfortunately, no change - I choose Patch tool and after selecting I wait about two seconds for a reaction
In the previous version it was ok - it started lags after the update 😞
