Hi all,

We're sorry for the trouble with the selection tools after Photoshop 22.5 update. We have acknowledged this issue and logged a bug. Our engineering team working on the fix. If it's causing too much trouble, you can rollback Photoshop to 22.4.3 version via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app. You can follow this post for the further updates on this issue. We really appreciate your patience with us.

Thanks,

Mohit

Bonjour,

Merci !

Same issue on Macbook Pro M1 2020 running Big Sur 11.2.3 16gb

Only started after update to 22.5.0.

One of those moments where you realize how long 2-3 seconds really is...

Commenting and following this discussion in case there is a solve. 🤞

Also have been running PS in "Rosetta" since there was no "export to video" option in Native mode after upgrading to the M1. Turned that off and the lag in selection/lasso/wand tools was the same.

It was quite embarrassing when I show the retouching process by using the patch tool in front of my clients.
It keeps showing about 1.5 seconds delaying between sampling and patching.
After clients are gone, I reinstalled the last version, then it works as it should be.
Furthermore, I never felt that Br, PS, and LR on my new M1 Imac run faster or smoother than does on my old intel mac. Just wonder how other photographers or photo editors think of this issue, 'running Abobe image editing programs on M1 Imac".

Operating System

Mac OS Big Sur 11.5.2

Model Name: Mac mini

  Model Identifier: Macmini9,1

  Chip: Apple M1

Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 performance and 4 efficiency)

  Memory: 16 GB

  SSD Disk: 500 GB

It takes 2-3 seconds to apply the selection even on a 100x100px image that I create from scratch applying just one brush stroke.

This didn't happen in previous versions.

It turns out you can actually revert to previous versions using the Creative Cloud app. Open "Adobe Creative Cloud" in your applications (or it may be running in the background as an "infinity"-ish looking icon in your top-right toolbar), on your "Installed Apps" click on the "..." next to Photoshop and it should give you the option of "Other Versions", just downgrade. I think it will cost you any customizations you've made on the new version if you've made any, but other than that it's pretty smooth. I did it last week and it worked great.

If anyone needs step-by-steps on how to do this, you can follow the link Nikunj posted earlier in this thread:

@nikunj.m wrote on 27 August:

If you wish, you can roll back to the previous version of Photoshop (22.4.3) using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/2wH0JjE

Please uninstall the latest version of Photoshop first & select the option to Keep Preferences prior to installing the previous version.

I'm having the same issues: the selection tool and the magic wand have become very slow. I tried fiddling with the performance settings without any luck.

Hopeing for a fix soon; it's unusable in this state.

Buenas tardes,

gotta say, I feel like I'm paying for beta experience when I should be working on my photos focusing my attention to my clients and my business.

extremely disappointed

(with many grpahic langauges I can't write here)

I was happy to see my liquify filter's initial mouse lag gone with 22.5

(mouse lags except when I exit liquify with hand, zoom, face, and open liquify again with those tools selected)

but this is something I can't work with.

my editing photos require a lot of selection and 2-5 sec delay everytime i make selection is crippling my work.

I just reverted to 22.4.3 and liquify filter's lag is back but this issue is gone so...back to where I was...
