Photoshop 12.0.4 (CS5, Mac OS X, German) does not show the menu search in the help menu. Other CS5 products like Illustrator or InDesign contains the menu search and the English version of Photoshop has it too - but not the German version.

Hi folks,

I just tried this with German and couldn't reproduce it. I'm wondering if there is another, missing step that's the trigger.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
David

To ensure I understand correctly would it be possible to post a screen shot of whats missing? I'll compare it to the the English version and see what I can find out for you.

This is a screenshot of the German version without the search menu:

And this is the English version with the search (Suchen) menu:

Image is not available

The search menu is very important to find menu items!

No updates or reply? The bug still exists in CS 5.5 and it would be great if it could fixed in near future! The German version is not cheaper than the English and German customer needs this Mac OS X feature also!

Sorry for the delay Mario,

Its my understanding that the spotlight search feature you have displayed here is based on the language of the Help matching the system language. If these don't coincide, the search field will not be displayed.

Hi David,

no, the language match exactly – German Photoshop and German Mac OS X. It is a usual bug in Mac OS X software, where the developer does not test the software in other languages than English.

It works e.g. in Illustrator CS 5.x and Photoshop CS4 but was broken since Photoshop CS5.

Thanks for your patience and perseverance. I'll go ahead and report the issue to the product team. It's definitely odd if the feature is available in some CS5 apps but not others.

no reaction.

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4025565

this is a bug, and if adobe is not able to fix it since month,
i would suggest to every body to ask for a discount on the german version.

Same problem here with Photoshop CS5 and CS5.1 in French on a French mac OS 10.7.2
The Search field is available though in all the versions of Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop CS3 and CS4.

Any news about this problem ?

Thanks for the follow up Jeffrey.

It's probably something as simple as a box checked or unchecked somewhere I'm sure since some people with the exact same configurations on different computers have the menu on one computer and not on the other.

I don't use this feature a lot, but as an instructor working on mac, it is sometime useful during trainings.
I can't wait to get an answer to that.

Thanks again.

just bought CS6 Crealive Cloud:
the blue search bar is not only missing in Photoshop (german version) but also in the new illustrator CS6 (german version)

Looging forward to an update with that bug fixed!
