P: Move tool won't select after scaling image

I can't find anyone else online mentioning this so either no one else does this, or I'm the only one on the planet with the bug (on two separate computers). It only started after version 22.x. I still use 22 at work and refuse to upgrade because I run into this bug so often. I use the latest version when I work from home as a "test" to see if this will somehow get fixed. It's still there two years later. Ugh.

Here's the scenario: I have my move tool selected and use CTRL T to scale a layer. Sometimes the layer is too big for me to see the handles, so I click on the aspect ratio link (arrow) and then drag the W (circle) to the left to scale the image down to where I can see the handles. 

I let go of the mouse button when the image is at the scale I desire, and then I click on the image to move it to the proper location -- but the move tool NEVER works on the first click after scaling this way. It simply does not register as a click the first time. I have to click AGAIN on the image to move it. I have to click twice to move an image after I scale it with the vert/horz scale controls.

It doesn't do this on either version if I use the handles to scale. And it doesn't do this on my 22.x version at work even when I DO use the aspect ratio controls (I had to downgrade my version at work because this was driving me crazy).

I know it sounds trivial, but it's maddening when it happens dozens of times a day.

Anyone have any idea why this started in version 23 (and continues in 24)?

It was a fresh install on a brand new computer. Brand new preferences (I wasn't syncing preferences at the time last summer). It was doing it as soon as I installed. 

But I tried restoring the preferences, and it didn't help. It never does. 🙂

Can anyone else reproduce this bug? Surely it can't just be me -- on two separate computers. Technically, three, because it ALSO did this on my previous computer before I built the new one last July.

Yes i can replicate on Windows 10 with photoshop 2023 (ps ver 24.1.1), but not on the Mac side

under macOS Ventura 13.2 and photoshop 2023 (ps ver 24.1.1).

THANK YOU! At least I know I'm not crazy. 🙂

Again, I know it's a minor issue, but it affects me dozens of times a day, and since I don't have to click twice in ID or Illustrator to select something (oddly, I have the same issue with scaling items in Acrobat Pro, however -- ugh), it's difficult to develop the habit. Even if I could, it's still annoying.

Any insight on whether it's a bug or just a setting I could change?

@NerveBag testing here and we are not seeing this. Could you share a video of what you are seeing, maybe we are missing something. Would love to find out what is going on with your multiple systems, but until we can repeat it here, it is hard to suggest fixes.

For me if i open a jpeg file, duplicate the layer then do a Ctrl+T or go to Edit>Free Transform, after use the scrubby slider on any of the fields in the Tool Options Bar, clicking on the image and trying to move it doesn't work.

If i click on the image again moving it works.

Let me know if you come up with any kind of solution/workaround. Like I said, it started only in vers 23 and later -- for me, anyway. 

I'm at least relieved you were both able to reproduce it and iit's not just my hardware/software configuration. 🙂

Oh, wow! I'll be honest, I didn't expect this to ever actually get fixed. 🙂 I've only tried it a couple of times real quick, but it does seem to be working now. Huge thanks for fixing that! That makes my life so much easier, and I get to use all the features of the new versions. Thanks again!
