P. Multiple occurrences of each font weight appearing in dropdown menu

When I have the type tool selected in Photoshop CS6 and go to the font-weight dropdown it repeats the different weights multiple times.

e.g. Arial shows Regular weight 26 times.

I use Linotype Font Explorer X to manage my fonts.

I reset PS preferences. Restarted Photoshop...fonts were fine..after 5 minutes of working...back to the bug.

I turned off Font Preview...still happened.

I turned off OpenGL Drawing...still happened.

I trashed Photoshop's font cache. - still came back.

This happens on 2 computers I work on...not just my "work" computer...but also my home computer.

Any suggestions?

I don't think it was solved at all. It's the same problem as Christopher describes above. It starts off fine when you open photoshop but more and more duplicates appear over time.

Howdy Jonathan,

Was the problem solved for a while and then returned? If so, I would guess you've got a problematic font on your hands. While there is a bug in CS6, it doesn't seem to be "aggressive" in that the fix should take care of it for quite some time. Is that not what you're seeing, Jonathan?

Thanks,
David

I spoke too soon, it hasn't solved the problem and the weights are still duplicating. I can't find an answer anywhere.

I also have this problem...and it's driving me crazy! Whenever Photoshop is quit and reopened, the fonts show up fine...after a little time...this issue gets worse and worse. I've seen over 30 instances of the same weight. I've cleared the font cache, trashed the preferences, etc, etc....nothing will fix this problem. It ONLY shows up in Photoshop CS6. Please help.

Thanks david, that seems to have solved it.

Hi Jonathan,

Have you tried the solution I suggested? That SHOULD solve it unless you have a corrupt font or similar issue.

Thanks,
David

I have this issue too. 'Initializing type tool' often recurs while photoshop is in use and I end up with multiple weights of all fonts.

Did any of the solutions work for you?
