P: Pen Pressure not working with Huion devices with Photoshop v 25.0 & above

I noticed that with the arrival of the new update for 2024, the pen pressure has stopped working and even in general the program is quite laggy, when you make a stroke or use the lasso tool for a short period of time it freezes and does not let you continue, hindering the workflow, I am using a Huion Kamvas 13 and the pen pressure works with any other program like Clip Studio, Krita even works in Illustrator.
But I can't get it to work again in Photoshop.
Searching for solutions in forums and videos I HAVE TRIED THE FOLLOWING METHODS:

-Have the pen pressure checkbox active in the brush settings.
-Verify that the Window Ink checkbox is active from the Huion driver.
-Even try with the famous text file "# Use WinTab UseSystemStylus 0".

None of this has solved my problem, I honestly can't say in which update specifically I noticed this error, but I know it was from this year's update.

I am a bit frustrated as I have not been able to work properly and I need to resolve it.

Thanks

Could someone please help me?

I'm having this trouble for some time now. Pen pressure would just stop working everytime I'd restart my PC. I would resolve this by reinstalling the tablet's drivers, but this isn't working anymore. I have already reinstalled both photoshop and huion's drivers, but pen pressure is still not working.

Also, there's this exclamation point notification on the brush settings.

Hey, @rafaelm49852066. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more specific info about this, and I'll help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

I've done some research & there are multiple conversations in other (non-adobe) communities that started around the time you've posted that report similar behavior with Huion devices working with Adobe & non-Adobe apps too.

For now, you can try disabling WindowsInk from the Huion Driver software & create a config file for Photoshop following the steps shared here: https://adobe.ly/3P1qoZA

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I have been going through the same issue for about 3 weeks now and I haven't been able to fix it either. I even tried reinstalling previous versions of Photoshop, making sure all drivers are up-to-date, using different drawing tablets (Huion Inspiroy H1060p and Huion HS64) and though the tablets work with different programs, pressure sensitivity doesn't work in Photoshop.

It has been very frustrating to deal with and if anyone can find a solution, please let us know.

I'm having the same issues, I have made a file for Photoshop called "PSUserConfig.txt", turned Windows ink on and off for my Kamvas 20 and even reinstalled Photoshop / restarted my PC numerous times. I hope this gets addressed or updated, as I just got my subscription and I'm thinking of canceling if I cannot use my stylus.

I've attached as you have asked of the other person, as I'm having the same issue with the error signs and no pressure, hopefully we can get a temporarily solution at the least until it's resolved!

Hi, have you had any update on this problem?
I find it interesting that 90% of the utility I was getting out of this program has gone with the pen pressure and adobe is not really interested in providing a solution.
My work depends on it and it doesn't even work properly.
I will try as a last resort to format my computer in hopes that it will be fixed.

Not at all. I went here seeing as someone replied to you and I have yet to be replied to, unfortunately. Hoping for something or I'll probably ask for a refund soon.

I wanna say, the steps here shared by Sameer K helped me, hopefully, they help you. I was very frustrated and this is a temporary solution like they all are so hopefully, someone makes an update (whether that be on PS or Huion's part) to fix this issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/huion/comments/1aqmhel/to_those_who_are_currently_experiencing_freezes/?sha...

So sorry! I posted twice and the wrong link. I am so out of it today.

I've been ahving issues where photoshop 2024 isn't working with pen pressure anymore. I've tried using the PSConfig txt file in the photoshop settings as well as disabling and re enabling windows ink in the Huion settings under the digital pen settings. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Huion's driver to see if that would work as well but nothing has worked so far. Has anyone else come up with a solution to this problem?

Thanks!

I just got a Huion Pro 19 and having this issue with all adobe products, Photoshop and Animate especially. Pen strokes not registering on screen, lag etc. I've tried other drawing software such as Krita which work fine, and updating latest drivers hasn't resolved it. And on this tablet there isnt the option to 'disable windows ink'. Any help appreciated. I bought the tablet soley to use with Animate and so its currently a waste of money.

Hello, recently I bought a Huion tablet and I've been having issues with the sensitivity since it's not detecting it. I've tried to solve it with all the tutorials I've found, deactivating Windows Ink, creating a text file named psuserconfig, and nothing seems to work. I'm a bit desperate because I can't find a solution. It's worth mentioning that the error only occurs with this program; I've tried other drawing programs like CSP or Krita, and they do detect the pressure sensitivity. I would appreciate your help!

I have a Huion Kamvas 24 pro with the latest drivers as of 5/18/24 and the newest version of Photoshop loses all pressure sensitivity. I have been using one from a couple years back to get around it. Rolling back from photoshop 25.7 to 24.0 fixes it.

If it is and old Huion/wacom/tablet. try installing an old version of Photoshop

I had the same porblem with the Huion H610 Pro Drawing (discontinued product) and worked seamlessly with Photoshop 2019.

Yes, I tried erasing and installing every possible version 2023, 2022, 2020 until 2019 worked, do the same and find the version that works with your tablet.

I was actually able to update to latest photoshop and have pen pressure by going into the Huion settings in their app, going to the About section, then clicking Software Diagnosis. From there I clicked on repair wintab and winink and enabled them. It has been a while so I don't remember the exact steps but this is the menu that fixed it for me. Hope this helps!

Hi, im all of a suddon having problems with my pen pressure in Photoshop (all versions).
It worked perfectly fine before the app updated it self.
I use a Huion kamvas 13, it works in other drawing programs like Krita.
I also tried using my old wacom tablet and that does work in Photoshop.
I've tried everything but nothing seems to work. (Windows Ink on/off, downloading older versons of photoshop, older drivers for huion..)

I really need some help with this!!!!!

Hi.

Photoshop does not recognize the pressure of my pen when I use it. I have double, if not triple-checked the brush settings to make sure the pen pressure is on. It says "Control by pen pressure requires the use of a pressure sensitive tablet".

I have tried:

- using older versions of Photoshop

- reinstalling my tablet driver

- adding the known PSUserConfig.txt file (and changing the 1 to 0 and vice versa)

(I also turned my PC on and off whilst trying these)

I use an older drawing tablet so Windows Ink isn't an option to change, but I do not think it's the issue because the tablet works fine on other softwares, like Krita.

Are there any other fixes I could try, or is this a known issue that's being worked on right now?

-Very confused and exhausted EeDes

Hello.  I have a Huion Inspiroy.  I had been having this same problem with the lack of pressure control for the pen. I installed their latest firmware, and it's working now.  You'll find that here, if you scroll down past product selection. https://www.huion.com/download  Maybe it'll work for you.

Hi! I'm using a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 GT-156 on Windows 11, and after latest update I'm having a frustrating issue with Photoshop 26.0. The pen pressure sensitivity is completely unresponsive. I've already:

  • Updated the tablet drivers
  • Reinstalled Photoshop
  • Checked and adjusted settings in both the tablet software and Photoshop
  • Tried using the tablet in other programs
  • Created a new Photoshop document

Despite all these attempts, the problem persists. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?  Thanks for all answers 🙂

Hi Adobe Community,

This was my fix for the pen pressure sensitivity issue on Photoshop. I am using Photoshop 2025 v 26.0 and am using a Huion Kamvas 16 Pro Plus 4k. After doing hours of research and trying a heap of different methods to try and fix this pen pressure sensitivity issue I came across a youtube video that completely fixed my issue.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nL10xGIA_s&t=139s .

Now this video is specific to wacom but it works just the same with Huion tablets. The first thing you should do is disable the "enable windows ink" option at the bottom of the digital pen page.

Tighe3307100009no_0-1729062073574.png

Follow the steps that he suggests and then close and open photoshop again.

This worked for me, I hope it works for you 🙂

Hello-
This issue usually happens to me after photoshop updates and just preformed this very task today. Brushes preview icons in the palettes do not show up as 'tapered' as they should; absolutely no reinstalling of tablet drivers, restarting my system etc. works.
When photoshop updates this preferences tidbit gets left behind?

This fix consistently works for me every single time- I hope it can aid those who have tried all of the other solutions.

Original website I found does not exist anymore, trying to keep the information alive:
________
INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Locate “PSUserConfig.txt” text file in WINDOWS or PSConfig.txt” in MAC if file is not there then create a new one.
(paths to find these specific folder/files at bottom)

2. Create a new blank notepad/.txt file
3. Name the file
“PSUserConfig.txt” (windows) or PSConfig.txt” (MAC) file and copy-paste the suggested commands from below:

# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
WarnRunningScripts 0

4. Save document and add to proper folder (listed belowAdd the txt document in this folder to:
Windows: USER>PCname>APP DATA> ROAMING > ADOBE PHOTOSHOP SETTINGS
Make sure hidden folders are marked visible> under 'view'

MAC:
Go to/ Applications/ Adobe Photoshop / Adobe Photoshop (Version).app/Contents/Required

Make sure to Restart Photoshop after you have followed the steps.

Cheers
