P: Photoshop 2019: "Anchor Point Reference" is hidden by default when transforming an object

I swear that before the 2019 update photoshop would let me move the anchor point when resizing something, but now that "box" is grayed out. Also there isn't an anchor point showing up when I go to resize something. Specifically, I'm talking about that small "dot" that would show up in the middle of the object you were transforming that you could move to the top corner or anywhere in general.

Cristen  Think you're right.

I don't mind learning new things in PS. .  in fact I love it when there is a new feature, it's exciting - for example the new content aware fill in cc 2019.

But. . . there's a but and a little whine that goes with it. . . . why does Adobe break things when they are working fine?

I still think that they are gearing for the newbies and mobile users and adjusting flicks and ticks which makes it easier for them.

Just saying as I see it.

You're welcome. I always use the reference point. It's an important part of my designing. I can't understand why the reference point is hidden by default. If anything, I wish Adobe would change it the other way around.

We long time users of PS don't seem to count to Adobe. They've trained and conditioned us for years and now it seems like that Adobe doesn't care about that anymore. Is it the new generation only looking after the new users, especially the ones that are mostly working in mobile apps. I notice that Photoshop will be bringing the full version to iPad in the near future. Is this what all the new changes are about and for?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've said it before, it's not cool to be old school.

Yea it doesn't make sense that you should have to do that. Thanks though!

"accidental repositioning"? It's a small little point. I rarely moved it by accident. Thanks for showing how to change the setting.

I keep forgetting I read this. Probably because it doesn't make any sense to me except as a way of saying that yet again, experienced users must learn new things because it's harder for new or occasional users to figure out what's gone wrong.

Which is probably true, but  when it starts to feel that all the burden of learning something new is on us older users, it feels good to whine about it. LOL

I don't like the new way either. . .

When in Transform, the reference point is hidden by default to prevent accidental repositioning. Quickly show/hide the reference point using the Options bar or use Edit > Preferences > Tools > Show reference point when using Transform.

Hit Cmd/Ctrl-T. Now look up at the far left of the Options bar, next to the "box." You should see a tiny little checkbox that may be nearly invisible in your interface (it is in mine). Click that to enable it and now you'll get all you're asking for. It used to be on by default. Now it appears it's OFF by default. Dunno why.
