P: Photoshop 23.3 opens images with everything in white color.

Hey!

Just updated my Photoshop to 23.3 version. And when I'm trying to open any RGB file - it opens with all layers colored in white color. Seems like RGB is not active at all.

IF I transfer it into CMYK - all good.

Windows 10 Home.

Below is the print screen of RGB file turned into CMYK. Cuz I was unable even to make a printscreen in RGB.

This should be fixed by the 23.3.1 update that just went out.

Try this: Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

I am now experiencing this problem.

I updated this morning, before which PS was working fine.

Using following the update the picture disappears as I scroll.

I have reinstalled the previous version, which resulted in there being no image at all displayed.

I have unchecked the Graphics processor and all is working, however rechecking it (as advised above) recreates the same problem.

I am now back to using 22.3.0

Thank you - this works.

NB for those having no success with Legacy compositing route, on my PS it says they no longer use it.

This solution worked for me thanks to Lexidesigns

Photoshop>Preferences>Performance>Graphics Processor Settings> Uncheck Use Graphics Processor.

Same problem... but in 2021 version, "Legacy compositing" checkbox has been removed, so....  any suggestion?

Hi!

In my current version (Photoshop 22) the "Legacy compositing" checkbox has been removed, but your suggestion worked as a charm. No restart required.

For me, I figured out that I had to press "F" to recenter the canvas every time I open a file or else I will have a black screen in the work area. Photoshop was loading the files with the canvas way off the screen for some reason.

I'm having the same exact issue except legacy compositing has now been discontinued! No idea what to do. I can't redo this project every time I need to make a change.

I don't seem to have the option to uncheck it. Any ideas anyone?

I was editing away with no problems, then the image just disappeared. if I open the file on my iPad it's there, but it's not showing up on my Mac.

Please affected users. post in a TXT file  the contents of Photoshop's Help>System Info... menu, so that we get to know your OS, its version, the exact version of Photoshop you are running, the date of the GPU driver, etc.

If the Ps team is not made aware of the GPU/Driver combos that do not work, they won't be able to fix the issue, if they can.

The Legacy Compositing and Native Canvas, or Disabling GPU are not fixes per se, they are a fallback solution when the new code (for the two first options) does not work with some (often older) GPUs and drivers.

Updating the GPU driver, disabling the integrated GPU to let a dedicated card does it job is a real solution.

Disabling the GPU acceleration will slow down many operations, remove several ways to interact with the image.

As time advances, Photoshop will more and more rely on the GPU to allow even more complex or powerful operations.

If possible, swapping the GPU for a more recent one, will be more and more important. (I know it is not possible on laptops)

Thanks for the reply. Hope that TXT file helps.

I don't think my issue is an older GPU, my laptop is only 2 years old and its a high-spec MBP 16 inch, so I don't know what's happening but hopefully you can figure it out.
