P: Photoshop can't open, freezes on splash image, uses all of ram trying to open then crashes.

I have googled every possible variation of this problem and tried every fix for this problem, none of them worked. I have tried reinstalling photoshop, deleting everything even remotely related to photohop in the appdata, deleting custom fonts, restarting the computer, updating graphics and computer, and holding every possible combination of alt, ctrl and shift while trying to launch in administrator mode. The result is always the same. It opens the splash image, gets to loading preferences or brushes, spikes RAM usage to every last byte of RAM I have, freezes the computer, then crashes.

And no i'm not running it on a potato i'm running it on an Alienware Aurora 4090, it should have more than enough power to handle this and Photoshop ran perfectly fine for months. Then just today it crashed and has never started up again.

Photoshop version 25.11

UPDATE

We identified a problem with a recent Adobe update that caused Photoshop and several other Adobe beta apps to fail to launch. We’ve released an updated installer to fix this problem. Please download and install the latest Creative Cloud beta applications. This update should resolve the launch issue.

Thanks,

Cory - Photoshop Product Manager

Hey, I solved the problem!!! Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to remove all the BETA applications... ALL of them.

Hi,

This did not work for me, I used the cleaner tool and cleared both desktop versions of Photoshop and Creative Cloud. Did I miss something? I am on a Mac Studio running Sonoma 14.5.

My work is piling up, I need Photoshop to finish it 😞

Please help!

Thank,

Karleigh

Hello, I can't launch photoshop i just crashes. Any ideas what it could be? I've tried reinstalling the app 4-5 times now and its not working. Tried since yesterday to reach adobe custom support but no answer.. They just auto reply that there is an outrage and they are busy at the moment. Can anyone help me with this issue? I'm stuck and I can not work until this issue is fixed..

@Lumigraphics

The simple thing would be that a beta application that is installed but that you are not running would not affect the final application.

I have a rather odd issue. I tried opening Adobe Illustration 2024 on my 2020 M1 Mac. The loading Box appears, it then dissappears and the app never opens. On the Dock, it shows the little black dot below the app indicating it's open, but when clicking on it, nothing happens - even the Mac Toolbar doesn't say "Illustrator".

I've tried

- Rebooting

- Uninstalling / Reinstalling the latest verison of Illustrator 2024

- Installing Illustrator 2023

- Installing The Beta for Illustrator.

All have the same issue. At this point it must be an issue with me right? After Effects and photoshop load just fine. Any ideas?

Deleted the one beta app that i didn't know i downloaded (media encoder) and reinstalled the latest versions of PS, AI and ID. Everything finally works!

Also, Adobe grouped everyone's post into this one old post and now my email is getting flooded with notifications from this thread. Sorry to contribute to that!

Trying to unfollow this thread now....

@Karleigh23144669xc5r - Dont install the beta after you clear out using the CC Cleaner tool. Reinstall Photoshop 2024 only.

@Sirgit - after you run the CC Cleaner tool (be sure to remove Media Encoder Beta), restart and then try. If that still doesnt work, clear everything out (saving preferences) then only installing Photoshop 2024 not the beta.

Delete the Beta Apps you have installed on your system. Once they are uninstalled, open PS and then reload the Beta apps, worked for me.

Funny thing is, after I used the Creative Cloud Cleaner to remove PS, I wasn’t offered the Beta to reinstall, only the PS 2024.

Applications install all sorts of libraries and support files that could cause problems. Bottom line- betas crash and break and cause problems.
