P: Photoshop CC 25.9 (non-beta) Error: 0xc0000142

Hi,

I've noticed that there has been an isssue reported with Photoshop CC 25.9 (beta) here about Photoshop failing to start with error 000142.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/photoshop-beta-v-25-9-cannot-be-started/m-p/14591455?search-action-id=547761064070&search-result-uid=14591455

However, it looks like this is now occurring on the released version of 25.9.

Photoshop auto-updated itself today (was working fine before), and I  now get the same error 000142 when I try and start it. This is NOT a Photoshop beta version.

This is on Windows 10. CPU is a 14 year old Intel core i7.

I know it's old.... but it's been working fine with no issues 🙂

Is this no longer supported?

If that is the case, why did the auto-updater allow Photoshop to update?

Am I going to need to downgrade back to the previous version or is this issue going to be fixed?

Seems very strange that if Adobe knew of this issue that v25.9 would be released without fixing it.

If I do need to downgrade, how do I do that? I can't see a way to select a version to install.

Thank you for your help

Liz

Gleiches Problem.

I am writing to follow up on a recent update to Adobe Photoshop. A customer service representative informed me that the latest version may require a GPU 2000 graphics card. While the initial beta update with new features seemed to function correctly, subsequent updates, specifically version 25.10, resulted in an error message "0xc0000142."

I would be grateful if you could clarify the system requirements for the latest version of Photoshop, particularly regarding graphics card compatibility. Additionally, if possible, I would appreciate any insights into the changes introduced in version 25.10 that might have caused this incompatibility with my system.

Hola.

Equipo:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU X 990 @ 3.47GHz 2.79 GHz

Windows 11 v 23H2

16 GB RAM

@Sil_LAB

This is a known issue. Adobe fixed it in Photoshop Beta 24.10. See this thread:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-beta-bugs/p-photoshop-beta-startup-error-0xc0000142/idi-p/14587616

I've moved your post from Creative Cloud Desktop to the Photoshop forum since your are using the released version.

Bonjour,

The customer care representative informed me that the latest version of Photoshop requires a GPU 2000. Have you received the same information?

My photoshop won't start up! Error message 0xc0000142. I notice that many more users suffer from it. What now? I mean I as a user can't do much about it and have absolutely no understanding of computers and software and how to modify this so that, maybe, it does work. Is anything happening on your part so that the problem is solved? I would love to hear about it. Or tell me in detailed, simple steps what I need to do to get it working again. This is very annoying - to put it mildly - for me who also does a fair amount of design.

Photoshop 25.9 Startup Error (0xc0000142)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz
MSI 2A9C,Intel H57 (IbexPeak DH)
RAM: 24 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti /GP107-400/ 4096 MB GDDR5 SDRAM [Micron]

Given these circumstances, I would like to request the following:

Urgent Fix: Please address the technical issues as soon as possible to make the software fully operational again.
Subscription Discount: Due to the inability to use the service fully, I request a reduction in the monthly subscription fee until these issues are resolved.
I believe that Adobe values its customers and that we can find a fair and satisfactory resolution for both parties.

Thank you for your attention and I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Dopo un aggiornamento photoshop non si apre. Ho riavviato pc, poi ho disinstallato e reinstallato. Cosa posso fare?

I have exactly the same issue with 25.9, also on Win10 with a first gen Core-i7. Is there a way to produce a log for diagnostic purposes?

There is nothing that Adobe needs to know. You have an old processor. Intel adds new features in each generation and when a program is written and compiled for release, some of those features can be used/required. Both Microsoft and Adobe are dropping support for older hardware (as is Apple, on the Mac side.) The only fix going forward is going to be newer computers.

Issue with PS 25.9 began yesterday. Opened app and got startup error 142. Running Windows 10. Previously able to use all app features. Attempted to fix with reinstall and restore point. Lightroom, Bridge and Acrobat working fine.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
