P: Photoshop (M1) Drag and drop to Libraries panel not working

Using Photoshop 22.5.0 on Mac Mini M1 can not drag brushed into Libraries. Reinstalled Photoshop and Adobe Crative Cloud which made no difference. I'm able to access brushs that are allready in the libraries and use them.  Photoshop running on Intel processor works just fine.  Is this a known issues as I'm not seeing it in the Photoshop M1 known support lists?

@poppyp32554185 installing 24.3 does not require Rosetta FYI.

Thanks for the reply, I assumed I didn't need rosetta as the system info on Photoshop says Universal as per post above, Rosetta it is then!

The Mac Studio has not been a real success for me my Wacom tablet/pen has been a total nightmare with it to the point of causing a catastrophic boot loop but thats another story!

You have to open using Rosetta (right click on the photoshop icon and tick the rosetta box). Not sure why they don't just make it work, M1 macs have been out for 3 years now.

On every update of PS I loose the ability to drag drop my layers to my library files. Usually I can revert back one level and get this back. This is key part of my process.

Latest upate of 24.1.1 has same impact. But now I have tried to revert back to old levels and lost that ability completely (at least after trying multiple back versions).

I run Macbook M1 64GB RAM

Seems I am able to use the + to add layers but not drag/drop.

Hi @PBimages.com

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

Cory

23.2.2 Version

Mac OS Monterey Version 12.3

Macbook Pro 14' - M1Pro

I usually drag and drop items from the canvas or the layers panel directly to Photoshop Libraries in order to use them across Adobe ecosystem. This is not working on Photoshop M1 version, it only does on the Intel based alternative. Libraries work just fine on every other app (I've tried illustrator, InDesign and Premiere Pro).

An Adobe representative has already reviewed my laptop, checked the issue, with no solution other than using the Intel version until the bug is fixed.

I hope other users join me to get a solution for next Photoshop update release.

Drag and drop with Libraries is not supported on M1 devices, yet. See:

Hi!

I've searched for my problem everywhere and couldn't find an answer.

I can't drag and drop anything into my CC libraries in Photoshop. It simply doesn't work anymore for any asset, I can't drag brushes, colors, layers...
The "plus" symbol doesn't appear and nothing happens. I was able to use Photoshop libraries before and I can't pinpoint the breaking point, but it seems it was after I bought a new computer.
I've tested the Illustrator library and it's working fine.

Here's a video of my problem: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LIW62ZnfzpARsH2f7tJorhUd3oSpTqi9/view?usp=sharing

I've tried:

- Uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop (preferences intact)

- Logging in and out of Creative CC

- Restarting computer

My setup is:

- Macbook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)
- MacOS Monterey 12.6

- Photoshop 24.0.1

Thanks!

Since updating I can no longer add layers or smart objects to the library. I have to clivk the plus button which adds to the library but then i have to move it into the group I want. Any idea how I can go back to dragging things directly into the Library palette again without all the extra steps of clicking '+' etc?

I'm using 23.0.0 on an M1 iMac

Thanks

I also can't drag from the library directly into the layers palette like I could before, I have to drag onto the canvas now.

How can I add a smart object to my library without it changing it into a linked object.

I used to be able to drag a smart object into my library and it would stay as a smart object in my document. Now after I add it to the library I have to place it back into the document.

I've only noticed this since changing to an M1 iMac, Photoshop 22.4.3 (22.5 was too buggy)

For linked or cloud-linked smart objects you can convert the to regular smart objects by rt-click (ctrl-click on mac) on the object in the layers panel, then selecting "Embed Linked".
If you mean that all the art is up in the "Lbraries" panel an not in any folder at all, you can just drop those objects in from the libraries panel and do the "Embed Linked" or try alt-dragging them and it will dump their contents directly to the layers panel...

Hi, thanks for your reply but that is not what I mean.

I have a smart object in my layers, I add it to a library, the version in my layers is now a linked file (the little icon in the layers palette changes from the smart object symbol into a cloud icon)

so now i have to embed it again. I dont want that.

I want to be able to add an oject to the library and have it stay ebedded in the document. It used to work this way and now it doesn't
