P: Photoshop opening images highly zoomed in unexpectedly

Since the latest update of Photoshop cc 2018, when i open a picture i can't see it full frame but only a part because the zoom is too important. I didn't have this problem before update (at that time i could see the ALL picture) and it's quite annoying because i have to zoom out each time... and when i have to check 250 pictures after a day of work i turn crazy. Is there somebody to help me and save some time ?

You can try Script Event Manager and assign Action with recorded "fit canvas zoom"

Sorry for the frustration. This is a known issue in Photoshop. Some users have found that resetting preferences in Bridge makes it return to normal: https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/troubleshoot-errors-freezes-bridge.html#main_Troubleshooting_steps

Others have found it helpful to reset preferences in Photoshop, but first you may wish to copy off your settings if you have a lot of custom actions and/or presets (instructions here https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html)

Sorry to hear that resetting preferences didn't help, Agathe.

You are probably aware of the shortcut Ctrl + 0 (Win) or ⌘ + 0 (Mac) to make your image fit to the workspace, but I wanted to mention it while we're investigating this.

Also, as we're looking into this it would help to have more details about the users who are seeing this. Would you please share your system configuration here? If you go to Help > System Info and then copy and paste the contents here it would help us diagnose.

Thanks for replying so quickly. On an unrelated note, my favorite trip was to France 🙂 It's hard to say which city I loved the most, but Auxerre, Joigny and Lyon were some of my favorites. I need to go back with my camera.

Does this happen every time you open an image? Would you mind taking a screenshot of how it appears when you open the image?

Thank you for your comment on France 😉 I went to Lyon many years ago and i liked it, but i come from Nantes, in the west of France, i prefer this part because weather is better and we have sea !!
Anyway, speaking of my photoshop issue, yes, it happens every time.
You can see on the screenshots how it appears on my screen now, and on the second picture how it appeared before the update

Thank you that helps! I googled Nantes - looks like a gorgeous region! Both of my daughters attend French immersion school, incidentally. I'm a hardcore Francophile.

One other thing - one of our engineers fixed a bug in the most recent update of Photoshop. He wonders if this issue might have also been addressed by that fix.

If you haven't updated yet, there is a Photoshop update available that was just released today, 19.1.1. If you haven't updated yet, would you mind updating and letting us know if you're still seeing this?

I've had a host of issues since updating to PS 18. Now when I open an image (Or import from Bridge) the image is so large on the PS workspace that I have to manually make it smaller so that I can see all the edges. VERY annoying. In addition, it doesn't center it in the middle. It places it mores to the bottom of the screen. UGH. How on earth do I remedy this ?

Sorry for the frustration. This issue will be resolved in the next update to Photoshop. Having participated in this thread, you will be notified when that release is available.

In the meanwhile, here are the known workarounds:

One user reported that resetting preferences in Bridge fixed this
Another mentioned that resetting preferences in Photoshop fixed it
2nd step after opening, use the keyboard shortcut to fit the image to the screen: Ctrl + 0 (Win) or ⌘ + 0 (Mac)

Hi all,

This should be fixed in the 19.1.3 release of Photoshop that went live this morning.

To update Photoshop CC to 19.1.3, click “Update” in the Creative Cloud desktop app next to Photoshop CC.

Hi Nicky,

Would you mind sharing a screenshot? I'm not sure this is the same issue because this thread concerns a bug that was fixed. Also if you could go to Help > System Info and then copy and paste the contents of that window here -- want to confirm the version and the environment where you're seeing this behavior. I'll likely fork this as a new issue and possibly file a case on it with our engineers.
