P: Program error when saving, lag when zooming, changes not reflecting in document window (macOS)

Since the 22.1 update, MAJOR bugs:

- ‘could not save because of a program error’ when saving, work around: hiding a few layers or folders.

- major lag when zooming in

- actions and changes delay in showing, to the point where they never show up - once I close the document and quit Photoshop and go back in the changes are  visible.

what’s going on??

Reposting this from *ishal ismail, which solved the problem for me. Many thanks, Ishal!

Here is my fix, I'm on macOS Catalina V10.15.6, PS V22. I gave PS Full Disk Access and restarted the system, seems like it has fixed the problem for now.

You can go to System preferences > Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access ( You can find it on the left side pane > and add PS to the list by pressing the small + icon you can find on the bottom of the left-side pane.

Also, you need to unlock the pri

Hi Ivan, are you on Mac or windows? If you choose Preferences>Plug-ins and uncheck "Enable Generator" and restart PS do you have trouble saving the file using the same steps?

I'm having the same issue with the Photoshop CC 2014 on a Mac.

When I open my Photoshop files or just a regular image JPG and I do a couple of edits and I cant save over the exiting files...

Any ideas??

And this is the window I get! ScreenShot20140908at2.18.51PM_-68cd818a-4a08-4edd-bc4e-c52776476304-1744134787.png

Use,

File -> Edit in ImageReady

I saved my file for being a huge lost. Because I completed my whole artwork and received a kind of error saying "Could not save because of a program error". I tried all possible options. But wont work. Then I tried Edit in ImageReady, Then I could save my file as psd though Image Ready. I hope this should work for you guys too :).

Thanks

Photoshop hasn't included ImageReady for many years - so that really isn't an option for anyone using a recent version of Photoshop.

I found a way to save my PSD which encountered this issue. I changed the mode to 16bits per channel. Saved. Then converted back to 8, and I was able to re-save without any issues. It didn't affect adjustment layers, layer styles or anything else. Hope this helps somebody else

I'm dealing with this right now. I'm taking a Photoshop class right now and although I'm fluent in Illustrator, I'm finding out that's not helping me much with Photoshop. I checked the box they suggested, it wasn't checked. I texted my professor, so hopefully she'll have an answer for me in the morning. I just bought this software tonight!

This problem was happing to me just now. I'm working on a single layer with all other layers unchecked; the layer also has a mask.

I couldn't save and got the same error message. I randomly checked the background layer, then unchecked it. And was able to save. Weird!

I swear, that's all I did: select the background, then deselect it. Maybe a coincidence? I have no idea...

This info saved hours of work for me. Simplest and quickest solution. I was then able to restart Photoshop and my computer to avoid any future problems.

This has been happening for me for month now with ps 6 and cc if I want to save anything with layers. All generator boxes unchecked etc. The 16bit change is helpful but a pain to do WITH EVERY FILE.
I AM A PROFESSIONAL EDITING PHOTOS ALL DAY AND WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF ADOBE COULD FIX THIS ITS REALLY REALLY ANNOYING

Wow I had no idea. Even though you shouldn't need to, you could create an action and assign a keyboard shortcut that converts to 16 and back. Might help save a little time until the problem gets sorted out.

We have this issue all the time here at our studio. We are saving to a Linux sever and we are on Macs (10.9 and 10.10). This has been going on for years, but is more common now again after a period less of these. I have read many articles and posts, and I still don't know if it's Adobes or Apples fault. Neither of them seams to take this seriously really.

What are my options, a Windows computer and a Windows server? Can anyone else tell me their setup? Are you using TimeMachine on your workstations? That has also been up for talks if that is the issue.

We take it very seriously, and have spent a lot of time on these issues.
But the problems are almost entirely due to the OS and file servers.
A few issues have been due to the text engine, or Generator - and we have fixed those as soon as the problems were identified.

Can you please evolve your answer with what you know? On what system, OS, client and server do you know, that this is not a problem? We are a lot of professionals out here struggling with major issues every day.
