working on Catalina OS. saving file extension works now but does not save over jpg when saving it creates a copy which is annoying and time consuming to fix
That's exactly how I see it too @oscargoldman ... 19 pages of frustrations and what does Adobe do? Change "Save As" to "Save As Copy" ... Just give us both! It's as if they want to create frustrations. Are they desperate for people to go to the competition?
Unfortunately the competition isn't exactly fierce. It amounts to Corel & Affinity, and Corel's only on Windows. Nonetheless, I canned all Adobe apps a couple years ago and I'm getting my work done just fine.
True ... Affinity doesn't have actions and the way their channels work doesn't work for my needs... shame really. I hope they can fix hose two things - when they do I'm gone
*lessucettes Absolutely they need to fix this bug.
That said, though, if you are scripting things anyway, and you're doing bulk image processing, you shouldn't even waste your time with Adobe. Just install ImageMagick. (Google it--in case they take umbrage to linking to it I shan't).
@oscargoldman If there’s something about the Gimp you don’t like, then change it. I haven’t had any problems with the Gimp, and have no idea what you mean by “smugly obscure”.
You can always do 2D in blender if you want obscure. But even that’s not “smug”.
I suspect you’re taking not understanding something and making it personal. Trust me, nobody is developing Gimp, Krita, Blender, ImageMagick, or anything else just to prove they’re better than you. I can almost 100% guarantee that’s not a motivation for any free, open source software developers.
I don't have time to change GIMP, or I would. I may be exaggerating about "smug" in its case, but this is something you encounter in old open-source projects (and that causes rifts among their developers).
I've been impressed with Blender in my very limited use of it.
OMG OMG. This has been fixed!!!! I can't say what version it was addressed in but can confirm that in version 22.4.3 on MacOS when the PS prompt says its going to save over the file, it does in fact save over the file and does NOT make a copy version. Almost made it to the two year mark with out being fixed but HOPEFULLY this bug never comes back (seeing as how Monterey is just around the corner)
