P: Select > Sky command won't work

Select > Sky command isn't working due to a program error. Not on my own photos, nor within the tutorials on the available photos. I've tried as many of the potential fixes I've found online, it's photoshop CC and up to date, only downloaded recently, and all of the other Select commands seem to work perfectly fine.

Just tested and it's working for me... what are the steps you are taking? Can you be more specific about what you are working on? Have you completely logged out and back in to the program?

My son wanted to start learning to use Photoshop, so I just set him up with
the hands on tutorials for now. The first time we noticed the problem it
was on 'Turn a gray sky blue with simple sky selection', when it comes up
saying "Could not complete the Sky command because of a program error".

It's since happened on every other tutorial that asks him to do the same. I
thought it might perhaps be the image/file used for the tutorials so I
uploaded by own image, but it does so on that too. It would seem its now
also not letting him perform 'Sky Replacement' either.

Yes, I've logged out and back in of creative cloud, but doesn't seem to
have changed anything.

I'm fairly new to Photoshop myself and haven't come across this problem or
anything similar myself.

Hi Jdoodle333,

Have asked the team for info on this issue.

Could you share your system info: In Photoshop, go to Help/System Info, then copy and attatch the file here?

Thank you,

I have the same issue.  It worked before I updated to version 22.5 a few days ago.  Log attached.

You can't attach a zip file here.  Not sure why CoryShubert requested that format.

Ah, well maybe my computer was trying to do me a favour by not letting me make a zip file. Positive side and all that.

Hi, could you share screenshots of they steps you are going through to see this error?
Thank you for uploadingy your system info, the team can use that to make sure nothing is out of place that might cause this, but the visual images of the steps you take to view it will help them diagnose where the issue originates.
Again, we appreciate your patience.

not sure if you'll see the images as it wouldn't let me reply on the thread
to your message directly, so posted them as a response to my original post.

For me the behavior is too bizzare to screenshot, mainly because I use PS for pasting screenshots into new documents but I can't do this after attempting to use Sky Replacement.  Here goes ....

I open image and go to Edit>Sky Replacement.  A spinning circle of death appears on the new popout window for Sky Replacement and then I get the same error message as jdoodle333 but without the option to "Learn How to Fix."  I take a screenshot and try to open a new document (sized for the clipboard).  When I do, it makes a copy of the first document I was working on.  When I try to paste the screenshot over the new duplicated document I get another error message saying, "Could not complete the command because if a program error."  At this point I have to restart PS.  When I go through the aforementioned steps again, without taking a screenshot and opening a new document, and try to use Sky Replacement for a second time it sometimes will replace the sky on a new layer and sometimes it will create a new layer that is blank.

Works great, what was the issue?  The flux capacitor or did the warp drive need dilithium crystals?
