P: Soft return doesn't work

Can't seem to make a soft return in PS CS2 / CS3 / CS4 / CS5 / CS5.5 (Windows-PC)
(no problems on a Mac)

I'm unclear what you mean by soft return, but usually if one double clicks on text layer thumbnail in the layers panel, one can use the scrubby sliders to see the changes in real time.
