Photoshop after 10 minutes starts to go unusually slow

I thought at first that it was the fault of my main computer (I have a collapsed C drive and the drives in photoshop I had to set to two others by what I thought was the cause) But it turned out otherwise.

The issue started to appear on my second - work - computer. Which has completely different specifications. So what hardware the program is used on is completely irrelevant - whether high end or low end.

The issue is like this - that Photoshop 2018 starts to go unimaginably slow after 10 minutes or so of not working in it (that is, even as I search for photos in the database). It is impossible to upload a photo to it. It is impossible to open a new project, because it takes an eternity. It can't handle basic actions like selecting or moving the screen. Everything goes SLOW. When closing a window, the program completely crashes. Sometimes after launching it is not even displayed in the task manager. On one and the other computer it works on.

Replies such as - install the latest version - will immediately be ignored - I use this one - because it suits me best and is not loaded with unnecessary options that further overload the system, and performance and speed are a key condition for me.

I suspect that it may be the fault of some Windows update, because until yesterday I thought it was the drivers, but when I reinstalled them nothing changed - still after 10 minutes it is impossible to work, and the problem occurred today on the second machine.

Reinstalling the program with system tools and adobe cleaner - nothing worked. Reinstalling the drivers also did not give anything. Changing the settings - also gave nothing.

@Matthew Dudda the only thing that I can see from the system info for the main pc is that Photoshop is reporting the incorrect free memory

Built-in memory: 32725 MB
Free memory: 2 MB

Apart from that, I can't see any other issues with the system info from both, I can't think of anything that would be causing the slowness.

Alas, Adobe only support the current and previous versions of Photoshop

Does clearing the undo history restore the speed? If that helps at least it's a starting point for things to try next to optimize.

I've found for large images especially that it can get progressively more bogged down until doing this at some interval.

I reset the settings many times - after time the problem returned again.

As for large files - I've never had a problem with it and everything worked fine for years.

I remember having this problem once. Maybe cleaning thoroughly all system files with some program will help - it's been a long time since I did a reinstallation of the system - so maybe this is where the problem lies (although on a work computer, the system has been standing for a short time - so this could also be a dead end).

With this memory cache besides resetting the settings is there any other way?
