Photoshop remove tool constantly crashing program after most recent update

After updating to the latest version of Photoshop (26.0.0), use of the remove tool only works for very small selected objects.  Anything of any size causes the program to crash.  For example, if I have a power line running all the way across an image, if I select it in pieces, remove works.  If I click, then shift click to select the entire line, it crashes the program.  I've sent numerous crash reports.  In desperation, I have uninstalled Photoshop, restarted the machine, and am reinstalling as I write this.  We'll see if this helps.

Reset the preferences. Have you tried the new find distraction with the remove tool? It's up in the options bar - automatically removes power lines for you - might not help with the crash but hopefully it won't crash.

Thank you for your response.  The uninstall/reinstall should, I've been told, do same and more as resetting preferences.  I only used the power line example because it was easy to describe.  The remove crash happens with other distractions not part of the "find distractions" pull down.  BTW, just tried it again after the uninstall and reinstall and yet another crash
