Info:

Photoshop 25.12.0

OSX Sonoma 14.7

16 bit RGB files, tried multiple profiles

Working on external monitor

Issue:

Creating masks from selections, and Image Adjustments (Curves, layers) etc do not match previews anymore.

Here's video recording with voiceover

Steps to reproduce:

1) Make a color range selection

2) Make a mask

3) The mask does not match the preview in the color range selection, it includes a lot more darker tones

and

1) Select a mask

2) Image>Adjustments, make any adjustment to the mask to darken/lighten/change contrast

3) The mask does not match the adjustment preview, it includes a lot more darker tones

Expected (and how it always worked) result: The mask would match the selection

Current result: The mask is significantly different than the preview/selection
