Smartfilter mask isn't transforming

Hi ...again,

Today I have the following problem:
I have a smartobject with smartfilter and have to transform it freely (Control+T). Nothing special, works like always.
But the smartobject has a mask on the smartfilter. This mask is not transformed at all.
It sticks on the right position when I move the object, but it refuses to do anything while the layer is tranformed.

Since PS CC (19.1.4) on PC is a big collection of bugs, I can't decide if its another bug, just adobe's ignorance for usability, or if there is an option I have missed. This action is also totally ignored in adobes smartfilter-tutorial (I wonder why... ;D ).

Turning the smartobject into a new smartobject is not an option since the new smartobject is calculated from the size of the inner object and not from the original source anymore.
Help, ideas or links to solutions would be very welcome! thx

My system:
PC AMD A8 5600K, 8GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro P400, win10pro 64bit, PS Version 19.1.4, no addons.

We've just been caught out by this in our workplace, whilst adapting client files.

What poor behaviour!

Moving this to a bug. I'll see if there is a main thread to merge it into.

Hi

It has been like that for a long time (version CS6?). The SO and mask are linked when moving but not transforming

The nearest workaround is to transform the mask first then click on the SO and use Edit >Transform >Again . Note- it must be mask first - It does not work the other way round.

You may want to add to the request below:

Actually Layer mask linked to the smart Object Layer's content should Transform with the layer's associated transform edit. However for some reason unknown to me If the layers has smart filters the Filter Mask is not linked therefor not transformed transform with the associated layer transform edit.  However, you can Alt+Click on the Filter mask to display it. What is displayed can be transformed to match using free transform..

Hi JJ

When I wrote SO mask I should have written Smart Filter Mask as that is indeed what I was referring to (as per OP question)

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that, could you please try updating to the most recent version of Photoshop which is 20.0.2 via the Creative Cloud desktop app and let us know if it helps?

Regards,
Sahil
