Hi,
I've suffered with the bug of PS having vanished from my Apps in CC Desktop for a while which did not bother me as it worked fine.
I decided to fix this as it was not getting any updates unlike LR and CRaw (as per instructions on here by just selecting install) but now I have what looks like a vanilla installation of 25.5 if I access through CC Desktop (which I never do) and if I access it via the desktop shortcut it loads 24.4 with all of my personal settings intact.
Can I merge the two so that all of my settings etc are transferred to the new 25.5 version and so that I can access 25.5 via the desktop shortcut please?
Many thanks
Dave

@ivorygull1995 Photoshop 24.xx and 25.xx are 2 separate installations of 2 different versions, it's not recommended to copy settings from one version to another
To create a desktop shortcut for version 25.5, right click on the desktop and select New > Shortcut and then browse to this location
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024\Photoshop.exe

Thanks very much for the reply - it's not so much the creating of the shortcut that is the issue, moreso that PS (or CC Desktop) clearly has a bug in it that caused PS to drop out of the 'My Apps' screen and has gone un-updated for so long. Had this bug not existed then surely it would have automatically updated gradually and sequentially to 25.5 and carried with it all of my (rather extensive) keyboard shortcut and display settings as the vanilla one is awful.
Would you happen to know of a way to force 24.4 to update through to 25.5 please?
Many thanks
Dave

@ivorygull1995 for PS not showing as installed in the Creative Cloud app, check out this

You can turn on Auto Update in the Creative Cloud app preferences and from the Advanced Options you have two choices, "import previous settings and preferences" and also "removed older versions"

Thanks for the info Ged, however I've followed the link for the PS App not showing in CC Desktop and it did not work (there were no Adobe User Info entries once I had signed out and closed CCD as per the instructions).
I gave it a go nonetheless but PS still does not show up as installed - see attached screengrab.
I've got CCD to alert me to updates rather than automatically update (as my internet at home is awful) so I can select it to do it overnight etc but tried that screen you showed and PS is not listed on there either, just LR and CR.
When I go into 24.4 from my desktop (See 2nd grab) and then select search for updates it just reverts to CC Desktop and show PS as not installed so I'm stuck in a neverending circle of not being able to get 24.4.0 to update (and carry through all my preferences) or even be recognised by CC Desktop.
Dave.

@ivorygull1995 try using this tool to uninstall the Creative Cloud app
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
Then download and reinstall the app from here

Hi, if you've used the migrate presets in 25.x, ( https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html ) and made sure that it works the way you want, did you try to unistall it from windows Add and Remove programs?

Thanks @Ged_Traynor and @PECourtejoie with a combination of both of your suggestions I think I now have 25.5 working with my old 24.4 screen layout and colours etc so the only thing I need to get now is my keyboard shortcuts and we'll be all up to speed.
Sincere thanks,
Dave

Hi, in 24, export your kys file to the desktop: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/customizing-keyboard-shortcuts.html
in 25 load it.
Or you can navigate: and copy paste the file from the correct location: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html
