2022 Photoshop layer problems!

Community Beginner ,
Aug 03, 2022 Aug 03, 2022

In the previous version, a selection was created, and the picture in the right-click selection would pop up and display other layers. Now this function seems to be missing? Now this window can only pop up outside the selection!

With a selection made, if you right-click you get the selection context menu. Ctrl + right-click will give you the layers list

I have six versions of Photoshop installed on this computer. Here is PS 2019.

Selection tool inside selection with right-click

Selection tool with selection outside selection with right click

Move tool with selection inside selection with right -click

OR

with Selection tool with Control+right click (shortcut for Move tool)

It works the same way in 2019 as it does in 2022.

Look at this picture. Right-click from outside the selection area and he will pop up this level panel. Not in the constituency.

When I have the Move tool with or without an active selection, right-click works by itself as it has since at least CS6, maybe earlier. With the Selection tool I need Command plus right-click, whether or not I have a selection (Control on Windows).

Can you test to see if this is how it works for you?

Quite honestly, I don't think I've ever made a selection first. It might be different on Windows, but try using the Move tool with or without an active selection.

Control being the shortcut for the Move tool? (I  just caught this after I wrote my post!)
