New Photoshop update 21.1.3 Scrubby Zoom still lagging in 2020 CC version...earlier versions didn't have this issue. I'm using CC 2018 because of that, but in this version drawing curves with Pen tool lagging...at least I can use scrubby without lag and forget about pen tool using lasso,

can you just make Photoshop great again?

so every tool can work as it should be ?

I can't believe it! It works! 21.2.2 Update seems to fix this problem, scrubby zoom works smooth now, it's a little "jumpy" sometimes when using tablet so hopefully it will be solved later on, but I didn't notice any lag so it's suitable for working now, with mouse working great, alt+brush size also works smooth, pen tool works smooooth,

I had to disable PSUserConfig.txt, because with this file there was no pen pressure levels,

just one question, anyone knows how to disable those annoying tooltips when presing alt, ctr, shift?

You are on windows ink. Disable windows ink. The tooltips are part of it. There is no other way to get rid of them but be prepared to lose pen pressure in photoshop. You will need the legacy wintab again with psuserconfig which also means you will run with the buggy issues... once again.

Moving the canvas with a mouse while keeping windows ink is incredibly choppy as well.

They still have not fixed the issues with patch tool+tablet with windows ink which I use VERY OFTEN and I've been trying to get info for it for 3 years. My plugin color wheel will also end up unregistering window ink taps after some time. This is why I did not want to return to windows ink because these issues have been known for years and nothing has been done so far as much as I've seen and tested.

you're right, moving canvas with mouse really is choppy, didn't tested that before, and path tool is lagging (>ლ)

that's disappointing...I'm waiting years for pen tool working with no lag and when it does work then other fetures which worked good now doesn't, that's sucks.

New update almost fixed that for me, scrubby zoom works smooth but only when using mouse (before it didn't work even with mouse) but it doens't work when using display graphic tablet, so still unusable for me. Either WindowsINK is ON or OFF.

I'm using "PSUserConfig.txt" in Adobe Photoshop 2020 Settings folder, when I disable this file then scrubby zoom works kind of smooth on display tablet, it's not bad but still 2018 seems to work better, I could even use it BUT in this case I'm getting lagging pen tool in return with annoying windows tooltips when pressing and holding "ALT" "CTR" "SHIFT" etc.

inside PSUserConfig.txt is:

# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0

Hi, when you say either windows ink is on or off, do you mean in the driver, or when you disable the psconfig file?

I have the same issue using Wintab. Switching to windows ink allows scrubby zoom to respond faster but in return I have a laggy patch tool. Another issue but might be related. Basically it takes a longer drag before zooming begins while windows ink, I can drag a little and it will immediately zoom as expected. I did not experience this in 21.0.3.

Same issue. I also posted about this. But for me, even enabling Windows INK did not help. Scrubby Zoom and Alt+brush resizing still lags for a few seconds then it resizes. It's like it's thinking and waiting to decide if should work or not. lol. I don't know, but it's very annoying. 😞

No problem with srubby zoom on my end running latest Ps on Windows. Perhaps it is time to reset preferences https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html. Before reseting prefs it is wise to check and save any unsaved presets and actions.

Thank you, I'm going to try it but I have question : when I reset it will it reset preferences for all my photoshop versions or just this version which is currently running ?

I don't have that problem, what operating system are you using? I have 2 macs, and old desktop 27"imac and a new 16" macbook pro... no problems with scrubby zoom. I teach - have 2 students today with pcs, no trouble with scrubby zoom.

I'm really glad that you don't have this problem but how does this help me?

Hello, it tells us that the issue is not systematic.

Being able to pinpoint the difference, of what in your setup might trigger the issue.

Are you running legacy compositing? using a tablet? with wintab or windows ink? have overscroll on? using tabs, or floating windows? rulers showing or not?

trying all those settings one by one might be a start for troubleshooting.

sharing the contents of help>system info might help.
