When you exported , did you choose a format for the texture file which will be saved alongside the dae file (e.g. TIFF or PNG..) ?

Yes, I'm guessing it's one of the listed formats - unsure which one though... I tried Photoshop and PNG and Original...

If you use PNG - do you get a file (or files) alonside the DAE file.  For example this for the built in cone model with a bit of red painted on it :

Is that imported back to Photoshop or imported into another application?

It may be the import that is the issue, I don't use that application so cannot comment.

Try importing back to Photoshop to make sure the DAE file is intact and correct. If that works you may need to look at any import options or options to hook up the textures once imported
