Here is a video of what is going wrong.

New project, 1280X720, 72 resolution, RGB Colormode, Color profile is "Working RGB: sRGB"

Make new layer, make object with brush tool, make object 3d, make background Postcard. Merge layers.... PINK???

yes it turns pink because you asked it too... as already said, what outcome are you trying for but I'll assume you want black?

if black is what you want just swap the layer order before you merge them

The first question was poorly worded... yes, anything but pink would be fine! Where would I check to verify that I have that color selected??? Because I'm 99% sure I have not selected pink ANYWHERE....

I see the issue, its Adobe that selected Pink when they changed Gpu drivers mate

if you follow old tutorials made for Nvidia drivers then you get black and white results [because they are German and test their products work before sending them out the door] but Adobe has decided to remake Photoshop to run on Macs better

so 1, do this tutorial in one of the old Photoshop builds like 2018 or 2019 = black and white results

or 2, do it in the current builds = gray [not white] and therefore you get pink... the work around is to flip the layers as I posted before

p.s,

yes Adobe is well aware
