3d texture mapping in photoshop

  Hello can anyone help,

1.Is it possible to mesh a photograph onto a 3D shape in photoshop without getting blur on edges?

2. Do you have to render it out if no scene (only solid colour) is being  used as a background.

I have only found info/tutorial on using  textures created in photoshop rather than a photograph. Do I have to take intial steps to prepare the photograph first?

Any help would be appreciated

I would think a lot would depend oh the shape of the 3D object and the surface UV overlay.  Photograph are on a flat surface single plane. Your 3D object may have many surface and in different 3D planes.  If mat be very difficult to wrap your image into the surface UV.  Here I used many Image to wrap around the Truncated Icosahedron surface. You would need to use a real 3D application if to want to be able to work on 3D object surfaces well. Photoshop 3D is a nice addon but is limited. Take a look at Adobe dimension it may have features better suited for putting image onto 3D objects and its UI will be better suited for 3D than Photoshop UI..

Editing it surface texture in Photoshop with its UV overlay
