Question

5000 pixel width limit when rendering video

I have a dpx image sequence I'm doing some work on in photoshop which has a resolution of 6144x3456. When trying to export through file/export/render video I get the following error:

An integer between 1 and 5000 is required.  Closest value inserted.

It seems there's limit of 5000 pixels on video exports, even when exporting an image sequence. I've tried making a preset in media encoder but when I select it in photoshop it drops back to 5000. Obviously photoshop has the ability to save images wider than 5000 normally so I'm confused why there's a limit when you go through the render video menu.

As a workaround I could save each frame invidually but that seems like an unnecessary waste of time.

If needed I'm on Mac 10.14.6 and Photoshop 2020 21.1.2

You should use a video editing application rather then an image editor with has some basic video support.

Could you recommend one that has all the content fill and cloning capabilities of Photoshop?

It may be basic video support but I'm only questioning the fact the image sequence (literally just multiple photo files) export settings have some arbitrary limit on resolution. I could quite easily go frame by frame and export one by one through file/save as but that would take an age.
