Hi I am using PS CC and ACR, in the sharpening panel of ACR I have sharpened my image satisfactorily and want to output it sharpened, the first try yielded no results because I had "sharpen only previews" checked in ACR prefs. I have unchecked this now and the message in the sharpening panel (sharpen only previews has gone) I have sharpening in the output menu Low, Standard and Hi working but the good results I have achieved in the sharpen panel do not seem to output. Is there a another setting disabling it from outputting the sharpening panel's settings?
Thanks in advance.

Are you checking and comparing the sharpening at 100% zoom in both Photoshop and ACR?

Yes I am. Thinking of this since I posted, I had a similar, possibly the same problem yesterday with LR metadata (transforms and adjustment brush) not transfering to ACR. The solution was to export it as a smart object to PS & save. This worked, but a suggestion to check "automatically write changes to file" was made, it was checked, I also manually saved metadata to file, neither of these worked as they should have, while other metadata did, such as col. temp. and exposure. This is now ACR is there a way to manually save to XMP in ACR?
Thanks

When you say, "output," what are doing with this sharpened image? Going to Photoshop?
Whenever you click "Done" or "Open Image" in ACR, any metadata gets automatically written to the sidecar XMP file...or it's supposed to. Something's up otherwise.

Yes, PS, by output sharpening I mean as you save there is a dialog box and at the bottom is a sharpen section with options of Hi, Standard and Low, these options did work. I restarted ACR and the sharpening done in the sharpen panel seems to work now, maybe I should download and reinstall the Adobe programs.
Thanks

I still think Dave's answer is the correct one: you weren't comparing at 100%. Yes, that is important for a reliable preview, especially concerning sharpening and noise.
