I think it happened aftera photoshop update. All my actions are lost.

How can I get them back?

I tried to migrate the actions palette form earlier photohop versions into CC22 but with no luck.

It's really importrant that I get them back.

Some older actions I have saved and can import again but some recent important ones are lost.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance!

First, always save actions as .atn documents to recover in the future.

Since you didn't, it may still be possible to locate them. Search for Actions Palette.psp ideally before the update!

Copy Actions Palette.psp from your old backup and replace Actions Palette.psp in your current location. May work.

Thankfully, Adobe has made it easy for us to save our actions, although there is one thing you need to be aware of. Photoshop does not allow us to save individual actions. We can only save action sets. So if you record or edit an action and want to save it (which of course you'll want to do), you'll need to select and save the entire action set. This is one of the main reasons why I suggested earlier that you should avoid placing your own actions inside any of the action sets that Photoshop comes with. Keep all of your actions inside your own action sets, which will make it easy to save them, load them, and keep them organized.

Thanks everybody for the replies!

So last question to clarify:

If I created an action, for example to resize and image, is that action not saved somewehere on my computer as an .atn file?

Thanks!

No; you must save them as .atn.

This is something we've been asking Adobe to fix for decades and countless thousands of users have learned this lesson the hard way. There's no indication in the app that one needs to save their Actions or risk losing everything.
Ideally, all Ps settings, including Actions, should be auto-save to the cloud, but that hasn't happened yet.

Thanks thedigitaldog!

I tried that and got back some actions but not the actions that I made like 2 or 3 months ago...

I've learned the hard way now that I need to save actions. Petty Adobe does not save them like you can save things in library.

As actions are usually atn files I'm trying to find out where they might be stored since the actions pallete does not work.

why would a photoshop udate delete my actions???

Anyway thanks for the answer, if anybody has different solutions I'm happy to hear it.
