Hi all, is there a possibility to remove the small icon in the mask of an adjustment layer?
and retrieve the old fashioned selected layer with the 4 "border lines"?
Thanks in advance!

You'll be pleased to hear that the Development Team has added the option disable these icons in the latest beta version. We can expect this option to be added to the full release version in a coming update, but you can use Photoshop beta for now if you really want rid of those icons.

Very weird that an update like this doesn't have an turn off option when you push it onto it's users, but great news it will come in a later update!

Totally agree. Why put this on the release version instead of keeping it in the beta? It's affecting the workflow, since now I can't properly see my masks. With all the respect to the dev team, I know we can rollback to the previous version, but c'mon! Now we have to wait until god-knows-when they will release an update to allow to turn off this. I don't want to be mean, but new features or changes like this should be kept in the beta until it comes with an on/off solution.

@Cerezine I'd love to know what purpose it's meant to serve, I can't see any benefit from it.

There's no benefit. Even with a badge, that still doesn't tell new users what the different type of mask is. Really terrible UI/UX design choice here, but not surprising in the least.

I came here trying to figure out how to turn them off because they are driving me crazy because of the obvious can't see what's going on underneath. Only to learn I can increase the thumbnail size from the small default to the large. In my case ... the larger size is much better in general and the icon isn't really an issue any more. I've been using Photoshop professionally for at least 25 years and just figuring this out. 🤦🏻😂

Adobe just doesn't care about professional users anymore. They rushed out these thumbnail badges and gave us no options to turn them off. They're so ridiculously large and serve no purpose other than to annoy those of us who use the app every day.

Keep in mind that bigger thumb sizes decrease the overall performance of photoshop tho. If you have a powerful/decent machine, go ahead. But in a more limited hardware, you'll definetly feel a little sluggish performance 😶
