New Here ,
Nov 24, 2023 Nov 24, 2023

Why does Adobe Photoshop experience a decline in performance when working with high-resolution files, and what specific factors contribute to this slowdown? Additionally, could you provide insights into potential solutions or optimizations that users can implement to enhance the responsiveness of Adobe Photoshop when dealing with large and high-resolution image files?"

Hey, @areej sajid. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

When working on more significant documents, the cache build-up is faster, and the amount of info that is getting processed & pre-processed is heavier. There are layers to how the performance can change depending on scale of your project.

You can check the content here in detail to optimize Photoshop's performance to better suit your scale of work: https://adobe.ly/47px3En

This should help. Let us know if it does.

The one factor that more than anything affects big file performance, is the scratch disk. You need lots of free space, anywhere from 500GB and up. It also needs to be on a fast drive to not be a bottleneck.

Apart from that, you need a decent GPU, preferably not older than 5 years or so.
