I have a mac pro early 2008 running mac os 10.11.6 el capitan. I recently purchased adobe photoshop cs4. It ran fine for about a week, then I got the error code 148:3 about licensing and was told I needed to restart my computer. I did this, and now whem ever I try to open cs4 I am told that Photoshop quit unexpectedly. I have tried reinsalling the cs4 software and still get the same message. any suggestions?

I would also add you may have inadvertently added malware to your computer when you installed a possibly illegal copy of Photoshop. I suggest you get your system checked immediately.

Since CS4 is not supported,  all I can suggest is the Licensing Repair Tool.

I hope you didn't pay much.  Since Jan 2017, Creative Suite is not legally sold by any vendor, retailer or country.   Unless you purchased a used, legitimate copy from someone, you got bogus goods.  If purchased used, did both you and seller complete the official license transfer forms and submit them to Adobe?

Adobe has not sold CS4 for years. You almost certainly bought a pirated copy.
