Advanced B&W on the Epson P800

Had the same problem.  This article has the solution.  Even though I had downloaded the correct driver from Epson, my Macbook was using the "Airprint" driver with the limited Print Settings.  Follow the steps in the article to make the change.  Good luck!

Just been struggling with the same issue and after watching that epson video the techman said the advanced BW printing option only works for certain media profiles / types. I usually print on semi matte proofing paper and when I changed the option to premium lustre (after epson colour control and all that) sure enough the advanced BW option is clickable. Why it sin't an option for all epson paper types I don't know.

One thing to check is to make sure that the full printer driver was installed, not the AirPrint driver. If only the AirPrint driver is installed, many advanced options may be missing. More info:

have you figured out the issue?  ps cc is missing the advanced color print option with the dropdown tab is missing.

I replaced my 3880 with a P800 and have been attempting to print some B&W scans of 35mm film (lots of grain, etc so I wasn't too sure of what was to happen) and I came across the same problem. The instructions are buried in the users manual starting at the last line on pg 114 - but this goes against the procedures I had been following - which is to print with Photoshop in control and not the printer. I stumbled on this via some Youtube video for Epson UK where the "instructor" (using Windows) said that you had to have the printer in control in order to eliminate color casts from magenta and cyan cartridges, etc. Tutorial: Using the Advanced Black and White Driver | Epson - YouTube

Previously (for my 3880) you were able to access the tonal controls, etc. via the printer settings in the popup menu even though PS was going to be the controlling program. Now in order to access these controls (via the "Advanced Black and White Driver") you have to put the printer in control and select "advanced color settings" if you want to work on the tonality, etc. - as I understand it.

Since the images I am working with are scans (of pushed film), I don't really expect great results - I'm more concerned with getting rid of issues resulting from the scanning process. I would like to try it on a digital image but I would like to hear more from the PS community on this issue.

Are the images not printing accurately? Is your computer's monitor calibrated?
