AI generate is adding to my subject

I want to change a background using AI Generate but it wants to add to my subject(people). I refined my selection in Select and Mask and saved it to a new layer, I then inverted the selection and typed prompt in Ai toolbar. It adds to my subject as part of the background so I can not get rid of the extra face etc.

    I don’t quite understand. 

     

    Why two Layer Masks?

    When I refined my selection in Select and Mask I get the mask for my subject I then inverted the selection and typed in "theatre interior with background curtain" in the Generate toolbar that gave me the background mask.

    Were you able to achieve a meaningful result? 

    A work-around with some additional input seems feasible.
