Hi,

I pasted an artwork from Ai to Ps as embedded Smart Object.

There is some gap between the Background and the pasted object.

Is there any way to align the pasted object at the center of the Background?

or

Would I crop it?

If the Move tool is selected, and you select Canvas from the Align To pop-up menu, then when you click the Align Horizontal Centers or Align Vertical Centers button, the center of the selected layer will align to the center of the canvas.
