All photoshop cursors disappear when I click

Hello, I'm using Photoshop version 25.3.1. I downloaded and tried other versions and unfortunately the result is the same. When I click or try to paint with the tablet and mouse, the Photoshop cursor disappears. Also, if I hover over any menu, the cursor disappears. I don't think it's because I've messed up a setting, because in rare cases, the cursor sometimes becomes visible when hovering over menus. Does anyone have any information about what the problem is?

When did this start?
Can you correlate the issue to other changes like Photoshop or other driver change?

What are your cursor settings in Preferences?

Have you tried changing the Brush Outline setting? This feature was introduced not too far back becuse of complaints about the cursor being difficult to see.

Do you have Lazy Nezumi Pro installed, and if yes, does closing or turning it off make a difference?
I ask because it has a setting that turns off the cursor when painting.

Even if not using LNP (and as a Windows user you shoulf totally check it out) it has probably the best tablet and cursor help page on the Internet.

Speaking of tablets, are you using the Windows Ink or Wintab API?  I am not so sure how relevant it would be to your description of the issue, but it might come down to this.

If you are using a Wacom tablet, I have a vague memory of a recent driver update causing issues. Seeing as your issue persists with the mouse, it might be worth opening Device Manager and disabling the Wacom driver.  That would be heaps easier than uninstalling, or rolling back the driver, to test it.  If it does fix the issue, then maybe roll back the driver.

Pleas let us know how you get on either way.

Hello Travis, thanks so much for your response! The problem was about the lazy nezumi plugin. I unchecked the " off while drawing " as you mentioned and the cursor came back. I appreciated for the effort!

The irony is that I knew that was a perfect fit for how you described the issue, but I probably thought it a bit esoteric to offer as the only suggestion.  It always pleases me to find people that use LNP.  It's the single best argument for using Windows over Mac.  Guillaume, has said that there will never be a Mac version. 😞

Yes, this is something unfortunate for Mac users. I didn't think the issue was about my settings because the cursor was appearing sometimes with the same exact settings. So I'm glad I found out that the issue isn't a ps bug. Thank you again!

If you're experiencing an issue where all Photoshop cursors disappear when you click, it can be frustrating but can often be resolved by going through a series of troubleshooting steps. Here's a guide to help you address this problem:

  1. Check for Updates:

    • Ensure that your Adobe Photoshop software is up to date. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve such issues.
  2. Restart Photoshop:

    • Close and restart Photoshop to see if the problem persists. Sometimes, a temporary glitch may be resolved by restarting the application.
  3. Reset Preferences:

    • If the issue persists, try resetting Photoshop preferences. Press and hold down 'Alt + Ctrl + Shift' (or 'Option + Command + Shift' on Mac) while launching Photoshop. A dialog box will appear, asking if you want to delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file. Confirm and see if the problem is resolved.
  4. Update Graphics Drivers:

    • Ensure that your graphics card drivers are up to date. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest drivers.
  5. Check Cursor Preferences:

    • Go to Photoshop's preferences by selecting 'Edit' > 'Preferences' > 'Cursors' (or 'Photoshop' > 'Preferences' > 'Cursors' on Mac).
    • Confirm that your cursor settings are appropriate for your workflow. Try different cursor options to see if the issue persists with a specific type of cursor.
  6. Disable Graphics Processor:

    • In Photoshop, go to 'Edit' > 'Preferences' > 'Performance' (or 'Photoshop' > 'Preferences' > 'Performance' on Mac).
    • Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" and see if the problem persists. This might indicate an issue with GPU acceleration.
  7. Check System Resource Usage:

    • Monitor your computer's resource usage while using Photoshop. If your system is running low on RAM or experiencing high CPU usage, it may affect the performance of the application.
  8. Test with a New Document:

    • Create a new Photoshop document and see if the cursor disappears when clicking. This helps determine if the issue is document-specific.
  9. Reinstall Photoshop:

    • If none of the above steps resolves the issue, consider reinstalling Photoshop. Uninstall the software, restart your computer, and then reinstall the latest version.
  10. Contact Adobe Support:

    • If the problem persists, contact Adobe Support for more personalized assistance. Provide details about your system specifications, Photoshop version, and the specific circumstances when the issue occurs.

By going through these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing the disappearance of Photoshop cursors when clicking.
