Alt + Mouse Wheel Zoom to zoom out zooms WAY too far out.
Correct answer Anshul_Saini

I'm using the web app which doesn't seem to have the "preferences" option.

Hi @Sarah37371101k20q, thanks for the clarification. And you’re absolutely right: the Photoshop Web app doesn’t currently offer a Preferences panel like the desktop version.

That said, your system-level mouse settings likely influence your zoom behavior (Alt + Mouse Wheel zooming out too far).

Here are a few things to try:
 1. Adjust your system’s scroll speed settings
 • On Windows:
Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mouse > under the scroll section, reduce the number of lines scrolled per notch.
 • On macOS:
Go to System Settings > Mouse/Trackpad, and lower the scroll/ track speed.
Also, check if your mouse manufacturer provides an app for controlling the mouse. For example, Logitech mice have the Logi Option app.
 2. Try in a different browser
Some users have noticed different scroll/zoom sensitivity in Chrome vs. Edge vs. Firefox. If you’re using Chrome, try Edge or Firefox and see if the zooming feels more controlled.
 3. Zoom using keyboard shortcuts instead
 • Ctrl (or Cmd) + = to zoom in
 • Ctrl (or Cmd) + - to zoom out

Let us know if that helps!

If someone else comes here to look at the solution and has a logitech mouse using the logi+ app, you have to turn off smooth scroll. That checkbox lets a Few things scroll smoothly, and Wildly screws up everything else to the point that I wonder if anyone there actually tested it.

Hey, @athletic_Mirage5FF2. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

There are two parts of the behavior you're seeing.

1 - In Photoshop, you go to Edit > Preferences > Tools and disable 'Overscroll'.

2 - You can adjust the speed of your cursor in Windows Settings & check how it goes.

Thanks!

Alt + Mouse Wheel Zoom zooms out WAY too much when used. It is unusable and disrupts my workflow.
