Question

alt + [ shortcut

Using alt + [ or alt + ] cycles through layers
I want it to not do that, every time I pick a color and changes brushed too quickly (because I like to work fast), bam, I'm on a different layer.
It has ****** up many a workflow so far, and I'm contemplating moving to a different program for illustrating, solely because of this one thing.

I'd prefer to find a way to change it, as I do like Photoshop more than anything else. But I've heard you can't.

If anyone does know of an advanced method, please let me know.
I don't care if I have to go screw with my registry to fix it, this feature single-handedly puts me off Photoshop.

How does this interfere with picking Colors anyway?

if you hold alt to pick color, and press square brackets while alt is down, it moves you to a new layer. Also without warning, so if you're the fast painter, you'll pick-n-go and only after hundreds of brush strokes will you realize you're not on the layer you were supposed to be on.

Alt+Click Samples the Color or the Area under the mouse cursor for some tools.   Alt+,  Alt+[  Alt+] and Alt+.  Select Visible layers. They are not Shortcut keys you can edit in Edit Keyboard shortcuts You can not change some of the  Keyboard Shortcuts that are Programmed into Photoshop.

If your painting in Photoshop why is your fingers even near the  Bracket keys> What country keyboard do you have. If you are changing tip size get a wacom Pen change the tit with the tablet dile.

You can change the Brush tip sizing shortcuts

Hi

There's no way to change/disable the shortcut, can't say that I have had any issues with it, it has never disrupted my workflow.

You can of course put a feature request here Photoshop | Photoshop Family Customer Community
