Question

Annoying Brush Lag in Photoshop CC

I’m getting some brush lag lately.  It isn’t severe, but enough to be annoying waiting for my strokes to catch up to the brush.  In the last document in which I was working (5616x3744 px @ 300) I was zoomed in close to paint the edges of a mask.  The lag really got on my nerves.  I updated the driver for my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 then installed the latest version of PS CC 19.1.4 using the Creative Cloud app.  My PC is running Win10 64-bit Home Edition (w/updates applied) on a Dell XPS 8700 sporting 24 GB of RAM and an Intel i7 -4770 CPU @3.40 GHz with dual displays.  The Performance of my graphics card is set thusly:

Use Graphics Processor

Advanced Settings selected: Drawing Mode-Basic; Use OpenGL; Anti-alias Guidance and Paths

Does anyone know what I can try to stop this annoying brush lag without buying another graphics card and/or more RAM to resolve it?

Thanks

Daryl

It would be helpful if you described the brush settings your using and the document size, resolution and zoom percentage.  It is very easily to overtax your machine using unreasonable settings like Large tip size brush spacing 1% on a large document zoomed was out so the full document fits on your display.  Make  it a wet mixer brush to see the brush stroke you started today finish tomorrow.

    Zoom pct. 500%

Brush size 32 px (just a standard brush)

The rest of the information I gave in the original post.
