auto show home screen option is greyed out

My photoshop 2021 version is 22.4.2. I'm unable to turn off the home screen as the auto show home screen option is greyed out in preferences - general. I'm using the trial version and planning to upgrade

That option is greyed out in the Trial version as far as I remember
