Question

Automate batch not saving layers

I'm automating a batch in which a layer is added to each image and then saved as a PSD.
When recording the action I ticked the option 'layers' in the save dialog, and when saved as a single file the layer is there after reopening the file. But it's not when running the action as a batch.
Any ideas? Thank you!

Post a screenshot of the action panel with the action steps expanded/disclosed so that all pertinent information is visible. Same for the Batch interface.

@Stephen Marsh 'Speichern' in the action is German for 'save', and 'Als' is 'as'.

Can you click on the interactive modal control box to the left of Speichern and take a screenshot with the layers panel visible while batch is running and paused at the interactive save step?

Where/how is the duplicate layer created? You mentioned that the plugin automatically adds this layer, is that correct?

Do you get the correct result when running the Action outside of Batch?

@Cowboy197719966831 when you create the action, did you record an action of you adding a blank layer to the image?

Curious to know why would you want to add a layer to each image anyways?

Hey, @cowboy197711574902. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll move your response to discussions for now. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > upload and attach here.

Actions are a custom workflow; it'll help if you export and share the action file so we can test this.

Also, if the action is not too complex, try recreating a test action in Photoshop (beta) with the same steps and check how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi @Sameer K and @creative explorer, thanks for your fast replies!

I'm using the Exposure X7 photo editor plug-in to edit my images which adds a new layer. I want to keep both layers for further editing.

I can't attach the action file here (.atn), it says the file type is not supported. But it looks like this:
Open file
Open Exposure X7 (and apply preset)
Auto Contrast
Save As
Close

When running the action in PS beta 26.3 it's the same behavior. Although I forgot to say that it's the original layer that isn't there anymore, only the edited one.
