Automate LZW Tiff saving problem

New Here ,
Aug 22, 2014 Aug 22, 2014

We´re exporting tiffs from our raw programs (both Capture One and Phocus) these files are opened and edited in photoshop and saved as tiffs with LZW compression and Image Pyramid. The server reads these files without any problem. However, if I try to do this with a photoshop action, applescript or java script, the files that are created automatically looks identical to the manually saved ones, but doesn't work.

But I can still open these automatically created files, resave them manually, and they will also work

Anyone knows what is the actual difference in the files that are saved automatically?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Trond

What are the exact settings you use to save manually and in the Script?

Could you provide a pair (the versions of the same image that work/don’t work respectively)?

The following settings are used for both the script and the manual save:

See dropbox link for the same file working (manual) and not working (automatic)

Thanks

I can’t locate the link.

This is the Photoshop Action that doesn´t work:

You have previously claimed you used "Macintosh".

Yes, I´m on macintosh, I´ve been trying back and forth on all the settings, so I´ve tried both Mac and IBM PC it doesn't make a difference

I had hoped it would be something in the metadata – but I can’t discern anything relevant.

Maybe you should contact the makers of your server software.

Unfortunatly I don´t have the code here at the moment, but you will have the same result by making a photoshop action Save As -> LZW compression and Image Pyramide. When you run the action it will create a "corrupt" file as well.

Yeah, I´ve gone through the metadata too. Unfortunatly Erez Image server is a old program and is no longer supported. This used to work in CS4, so there is someting about the way photoshop handles the file. But unfortunatly hard to figure out.

Sorry I can’t provide more help.

When you automate opening the files, doing something to make them "dirty" (add a layer and remove it for example) and saving them are those files accepted by your server software?

It’s not proper but if it is really important to your workflow maybe you could try contacting one of the Adobe employees who participate in the Photoshop General Discussion Forum via privat message.

I’m not sure they could solve the issue (as the files work in Photoshop they would appear to both be in order, but sometimes file formats can allow for ambiguous data supposedly); they might be able to pinpoint the difference, though.
