Automate measurement

Is there a way to accurately measure an object in a photograph, and the automate this process. i will try to include an example of the object I need to measure.

You could use the ruler tool and set up a measurement scale (Image >Analysis)  to match your photographed ruler.

I've actually done that, but I was wondering if there was a way to automate it as I will usually have many of these to process.
