Automate putting images on a white background - save as jpeg

I've been asked to put a bunch of images on a white insta square (1800x1800). I can do this task manually but I was wondering if anyone knew how or could point me to a decent tutorial which does the following:

Create new background white 1800x1800
Resize image long edge 1060

Put in centre - white backgrond from step 1

Save in folder as jpeg.

Is this possible with an action?

I think you should go another way:

• File > Automate > Fit Image to 1060px x 1060px

• D (reset foreground and background color)

• Image > Canvas Size to 1800px x 1800px

Hang on Fit Image doesn't allow you to specify "long edge" - there's a mixture of portrait and landscape images.

That’s why I stated:

• File > Automate > Fit Image to 1060px x 1060px

The Action could be run on multiple files with File > Scripts > Image Processor to create the jpgs.

Ah! Of course. I understand now. The action works fine and I can use the image processor or a droplet to batch the images.

If the images are layered maybe also include a flattening step at the beginning of the Action, certain Adjustments or Layer combinations might appear differently depending on whether they are rescaled as Layers or flattened.

Hm. Interesting. Not tried that in an action. I'll give it a go, I have about 300 images to deliver so anything to automate the task would be a godsend.

If the image is fit into 1060px by 1060px the longest resulting side will by necessity be 1060px, no matter whether the image is portrait or landscape.
