Background layer has dissapeared

When I open clips  in photoshop they are numbered  as : layer 1 ,  layer 2,  layer 3 and they is no background layer.   Seems as thought the background layer is completely gone altogether .

How do I get the named "background layer" back once again ?

Thanks.

Do you need a background layer? If you really want one, either make a new layer and place it at the bottom of the layer stack, or select the original bottom layer, then go to the menu bar and select layers>new>background from layer.

Just for an FYI, background layers have not been required since PS5 (not CS5). When PS5.5 came out, transparency was introduced and there is no reason to have a background layer.
