I moved your post over from the poorly named Community Help forum, which is for getting help using this forum system, to a better forum, PS.

Hi
Select the person, then add a layer mask to hide the whitish perimeter. Try Select > Select Subject to start, assuming the person is on a separate layer. We can't see your Layers panel in your screen shot.
If you only have one layer, then there is nothing underneath the person and the border.

Thanks a million for your kind response. What are seeing in that picture is the rendered (supposed opacity map) from 3dxmax. It is actually a one layer work done in Photoshop and imported to 3dsmax for 3D finishing and i think i am missing a couple of steps to scale through. How do i play around this, pls bail me out, what do i do?

"turn transparent in Photoshop"
Hi
I just noticed that your image is a jpeg, and jpegs do not support transparency. If you select and delete the border around the man, you will have a hole, as the pixels for the landscape are now gone.
If you have the originial landscape and photo with the man, you can start over. Save as .tiff or .psd, and keep each on its own layer.

I was confused because the name of the file is "finished work.jpg".

opacity map = black and white only
black to hide
white to show
so you need a black and white image to import to 3dmax where the guy in the middle is all white and the background around him is black
