Question

Batch renames the target files

Running a batch twice renames the target files adding -2, the next time -3 etc. even if the previous files have been removed from the target folder. It seems that Photoshop remembers the number of times that file has been opened, processed and saved and increases the filename counter. PS version 24.7.0 Windows 10. Never happened before (30 years...).

@Sandro Moro

Can you please confirm if this is:

(A) Photoshop Automate Batch Action

or

(B) Bridge Batch Rename

@Sandro Moro

Can you show us the dialog for the batch rename with the settings you are using? Be sure to include the preview in the bottom right of how the files will look when they are renamed.

Hi @Sandro Moro

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Could you share your workflow, steps to reproduce, so we can try to do what you are and see if we can reproduce this issue?
