Best computer hardware for Photoshop 2020

As Photoshop has evolved over the years and the tech used to drive it, many differnt theories have been out there as to what is the most vital piece of computer hardware needed to keep Photoshop running smoothly.  It used to be advised that you needed a lot of computer memory, then the processor was the key, now assuming video cards are the top notch need.

So I'm looking for advice from those who know under-the-hood of Photoshop what the key pieces of hardware are, for a new build of a PC computer to handle Photoshop well.   Specifically thinking for the average user that would be working on images, not heavy 3-d rendering or video editing - just photography.  In essence what is the top piece of hardware that drives Photoshop in every-day-use and then second and third.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

You can check the minimum and recommended system requirements for Photoshop 2020 at the link below.

https://helpx.adobe.com/in/photoshop/system-requirements.html

If you can opt for a multi core processor with a good base clock frequency and a turbo boost. It is better to go for fast (high clock speed) dual channel RAM, like 4+4 or 8+8 depending on the amount of RAM you want on the computer. Since you would not be doing much 3D work, you can go for one of the recommended Graphics Cards and installed the latest drivers from the manufacturers website.

Another important thing is to make sure that the computer you building as good thermals since all the power in the computer is no good is runs too hot resulting in processor or GPU to thermal throttle.

Hope this helps.
