Best Way to Colorize Black and White Image?

Let's say I have a black and white FIFA Coin image and I'm interested in colorizing it, what practices or methods do you suggest to make it done?

There are *so* many ways between styles and whatnot like c_pfaffenbichler mentioned. You could, for example, pull that into the Camera Raw Filter (Filter > Camera Raw Filter > Split Toning tab) and go to town with split toning. (If that's all you wanted, that is. Split toning is always an option to give B&W---or even color---images a striking look.)

Solid Color Layers set to Blend Mode Color with Layer Masks are an option. 

 

But maybe if you post examples of what you have and what you want to achieve more pertinent advice will be forthcoming,
