Best ways to improve logo for use in a small space

Okay, absoulte basic beginer here. So hopefully I have the right place. I can use photoshop but not sure if there's a better tool for this.

Here's an example image

I'm keen to place this into a table, row height maybe around 18px. If I shrink this it's hard to see what it is vs others logos in other rows. The same issue applies to other logos.

I'm open to removing the words as that's how it's sometimes used

But ultimately I'm looking for tips on how to shrink this but keep as much quality as I can.

Can anyone help?

How is the logo created? Illustrator, photoshop?
Illustrator is the better choice if you need to have a clean enlargement or reduction because it is vector art and can be saved as an eps.

Is this your own company's logos, or another company? The reason for asking is that you can make some design changes to your own company's logo (with suitable permissions) to make it legible in a smaller space, but this would not be proper for another company's logo (messing with trademarks can get you in trouble, better if they are just hard to read).

A row in a table in what application? InDesign? Dreamweaver? Microsoft Word?

Vector images resize well; raster images (pixels) do not. If you want to resize this this logo and keep the quality, it needs to be vector. Use Illustrator and re-create it as vector, then save as .ai or .svg to keep it vector, depending on where it is going.

Another option is to export to png or jpeg (raster) from the vector in Illustrator to the exact size you need for your table. Export each time you need a new size.
